He confirmed that there is no other way to finish out my lease with CarPlay except for these two options.

Either pay $80 per year, and remember to log in again a year from now, or pay $300 now, and remember to seek a pro-rated reimbursement for the un-used 18 years out of the 20 years purchased. I asked if there was a way to pay up front for the balance of my lease term, and the rep said no. The ONLY renewal options are, $80 per year, or $300 for 240 months (=20 years). This car is a lease, and I must have just passed the 1 year mark. They stated that CarPlay is only included with leases for the first year. I called the ConnectedDrive hotline 1-88, and they informed me that I SHOULD have received an email warning me of the impending expiration, but nothing came.

I was going to bring the car to the dealer to have them diagnose, so frustrating. I checked my ConnectedDrive subscriptions online, and sure enough, the Apple CarPlay compatibility has "expired". I had the same thing happen to me these past few days. Time to go in and get a software update or something. Maybe you have a corrupted copy of iDrive. Sorry to hear about your trouble, looks like you have checked just about everything. Is it possible that my iDrive went in some kind of compatible mode (with reduced functionalities)?

I cannot find how to turn on location service for the car so you could find it from bmw connected (I've seen the setting before). But more things seem to be missing besides CarPlay, i.e. Not really a big deal missing CarPlay since I enjoy iDrive navigation with HUD direction just fine. They told me to go to the service department now. Yup, CarPlay is enabled on phone, phone is actually searching for cars to connect to.Īnd yes, subscription is good for another year, bmw assist was able to confirm the same.Īlso called tech support / genius line, was able to reboot iDrive (hold the volume button down for 10~20 seconds while ignition's on) and updated Bmw assist, but still no apple CarPlay under mobile phone settings.
